When I tell the contractor, am sure he will say it was the painter's responsibility as it wasn't a painter he hired and both will put blame on the other. I pointed it out to the painter (the boss) and he just said it wasn't his problem, that the contractor should have finished it. I don't know if I have to have someone remove the walls and start over from scratch or if the walls can be skimmed with the paint already there and then repainted? Or what? It wasn't even that white drywall that looks like walls, it was some gray board, like maybe an inch or so thick. It's that the wall is not properly surfaced and I worry about the integrity of the walls now, they aren't sealed or anything. It's not the visual look that's concerning me, though it does look bad. Now what to do? I'm very upset about this. You can see the texture of the drywall and the tape. Unfortunately his painter just painted latex wall paint (Ben Moore eggshell latex) directly on the drywall and that's it. The painter said he would skim and then paint. So all you saw was this dark gray drywall (if that's the right term) and seam tape. Contractors put up two new walls in our house and left the finishing to the painter, including skimming, etc.
